Hardanger Plateau Solo

Track me (Hazel) as I attempt to ski solo across Europe’s largest high mountain plateau, the Hardangervidda (Hardanger Plateau) in Norway. This is only available on desktops and laptops at the moment.

You can also send me a message via the “Message” icon under “Map Filters”.

After a ski expedition in Finnmarksvidda (Arctic Norway) last year and an intensive polar expedition training course in Finse (Norway) this February, I’ll be putting everything I’ve learned into practice on this 130 km crossing.

Setting off from Finse, I’ll head south onto the plateau, carrying a pulk with everything I need to survive in these harsh winter conditions.

The only solo trip I’ve done to date has been an overnight camp, so this is a venture into new territory and I’m pretty excited!

I’ll be posting updates on Facebook and Twitter so thanks for following along!

Finse, only accessible by train (or skis, dogsled or snowmobile in the winter…), sits at an altitude of 1222m and is the highest point on the Oslo-Bergen train line.

The area around Finse, including the Hardanger Plateau is a fantastic training ground for polar travel.
